Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShipTwo VSS Unity made its third suborbital flight on Saturday May 22, starting from the company’s Spaceport in New Mexico. Richard Branson’s Space Company can be congratulated on a successful flight and a safe landing. But it is still impossible to call this flight a space flight, since the maximum altitude reached by SpaceShipTwo VSS Unity in this flight was at the level of 89.24 km, and this is almost 11 km lower than the «Karman line» separating the Earth’s atmosphere from the space space. At the same time, the ship developed a maximum speed of Mach 3 — 3596.403 km / h.

This test opens the way to what this project was originally created for, this is the attraction of «space tourists» who are interested in looking at the Earth from space, to feel like the conquerors of airless space. The company is licensed by the FAA commercial reusable spacecraft operator and is likely to commercialize SpaceShipTwo shortly.

Michael Colglazer, Virgin Galactic CEO: “Today’s flight demonstrated the elegance and safety of our space system, marking an important step forward for both Virgin Galactic and manned space travel in New Mexico. Space travel is a bold and risky endeavor, and I am incredibly proud of our talented team who made the dream of private space travel a reality. We will immediately begin processing the data from this successful test flight and look forward to sharing the news of our next planned milestone. ”

Built in the New Mexico desert, Virgin Galactic is the third privately-owned spaceport in the United States. SpaceX already has its sites in Boca Chica, dubbed Starbase, Blue Origin, both located in Texas, and

Richard Branson: “Fifteen years ago, New Mexico embarked on a journey to build the world’s first commercial spaceport. Today, we performed the first manned flight into space from a location that was a milestone for both Virgin Galactic and New Mexico. I am proud of the team for their hard work and grateful to the people of New Mexico, who have been unwaveringly committed to commercial space travel since day one. Their faith and support have made today’s historic achievement possible. ”

Virgin Galactic is developing its space activities in its own special way. Both Richard Branson’s space companies, Virgin Galactic, Virgin Orbit, for launches

If you are watching one of the best #explosion sci-fi series, based on the books in the #space series by Daniel Abraham and Ty Frank, you should have noticed that the Razorback racing space yacht features the same symbols as the SpaceShipTwo.

Naturally, there are two more generations of ships on the #razorback after the SpaceShipTwo contour. So, it is likely that Branson has far-reaching plans for the future, and he is not going to remain in the shadow of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos.
