The two-gigawatt coal-fired power plant, located in Nottinghamshire, has been in operation since 1966 and consisted of four 500 megawatt units.
It is the last remaining asset in the French energy giant’s coal portfolio, and the company said it will focus on renewables.

The Drax Group, which operates the power plant, will cease power generation a few months later, with the two units remaining on standby until the end of the year to meet capacity market agreements.

Overall, renewables accounted for 42% of UK electricity generation last year

The construction of tidal power plants is actively developing.
All this confirms the good prospects for the development of the floating offshore wind energy segment in the country.
