Electric transport in Russia: production and infrastructure

The topic of electric transport is gaining popularity lately. Events dedicated to the development of this topic are held at various venues. Representative of the # Ministry of Economic Development Rustam Abulmambetov said that from the point of view of the Ministry, electric transport is promising and to synchronize the efforts of various departments, the Ministry has created an interdepartmental working group whose task is to synchronize targets and development plans.

One of the tasks of the concept for the development of electric transport is to understand what to focus on: lithium-ion batteries or hydrogen fuel cells. According to the Ministry of Economic Development, electric transport will be more relevant for cities, and hydrogen transport will be more in demand for long-distance transportation.

It is also planned to amend the standards for the classification of cars by weight, which will make it possible to transfer small commercial vehicles to electric traction. The Ministry of Economic Development is a supporter of the creation of production consortia.

The ministry also believes that in order to stimulate the development of electric transport, it is necessary to introduce a state program to stimulate demand. And when localizing, focus on localization and R&D in the field of battery storage technologies.

The next speaker was the head of the Energy of Moscow project, Alexandra Shumskaya, whose sphere of responsibility also includes the charging infrastructure of the metropolis.

Alexandra spoke about the state of affairs with the charging infrastructure and what is planned to be done to increase the charging points. Moscow plans to transfer taxis to electric traction, as well as to develop electric car sharing. In addition, Moscow is introducing a number of preferences and support measures for electric vehicle owners. For the convenience of users, information and charging service is included in the Moscow transport application.

According to Shumskaya, the Moscow Government has a program for the development of the city’s charging infrastructure, so a private operator should contact the transport department to agree on the locations of its charging infrastructure with interested structures of the Moscow and Federal Governments.

In order for the products of charging station manufacturers to be included in the Moscow charging infrastructure development program, it is necessary to use the developed and approved design of charging stations.

According to Gordeeva, as a manufacturer of charging infrastructure, the department’s work system is transparent and customer-oriented.

Soin Georgy, head of the export development department of the ANO # mosprom center, began by saying that the green agenda is relevant to the foreign economic agenda, and that the center is ready to support manufacturers of infrastructure elements and electric transport.

Soin noted that the center provides assistance in overseas exhibition activities.

Soin also noted that export countries, even those related to developing ones, are now largely focused on the localization of technologies of interest to them.

Zhainoidarov noted the need to focus on the development of unmanned technologies in vehicles, as forecasts show an increase. Kirill noted the need to increase the localization of the «iron» part of electric vehicles: batteries, lidars, cameras, sensors, since now domestic developers are busy with more software.

The fund is ready to work with transport developers and infrastructure components, and is building relationships with systemic players in the electric and unmanned vehicles market.

Now the #skolkovo territory is focused on the movement of environmentally friendly transport: electric cars and fuel cell vehicles, electric buses run around the territory.
