Today, China has made another breakthrough, standing on a par with the leading space countries. Today, from the Wenchang cosmodrome, the Long March-5B Y2 launch vehicle launched and launched the main module Tianhe of the Chinese national low-orbit space station Tiangong, which means «Heavenly Palace» in Chinese. And China, if it has conceived anything, does everything quickly and clearly. The station will be fully assembled in orbit by the end of 2022, in 11 launches with modules, a mooring hub, and cargo ships.

The main module Tianhe has a length of 16.6 meters and a maximum diameter of 4.2 meters, with a take-off weight of 22.5 tons. The living area of the main module is about 50 cubic meters. It is the largest spacecraft built by China to date. And there will be at least three more modules of similar size. After final assembly, the total habitable volume will be 110 m3. The space station will operate in orbit at an altitude of 400 to 450 km. The estimated service life is 10 years, but, as we know from the # μs example, the life of the station can be extended almost three times, taking into account the proper maintenance, repair and replacement of modules.

If you look at the renders provided by the Chinese space agency, then you, of course, remember the Soviet station #mir. And this is not surprising. China, creating its space program, took as a basis all the best Soviet developments. Now we see it, looking at the project of their orbital station «Heavenly Palace», a little earlier it was seen in their spacecraft «Shenzhou». Everything is familiar and understandable. Of course, China builds its spacecraft using all the most modern technologies. And it is likely that very soon we will see the Chinese counterparts of #crew dragon and #dream chaser.

Various scientific activities will take place on board the station, including seed breeding, pharmaceutical research and the development of critical materials. Life support and energy technologies will be tested. In addition, there is information that China is creating the Xuntian telescope, in fact, a «twin» of the famous Hubble telescope.

It is planned to launch in 2024, while it will occupy an orbit similar to the orbit of the Sky Palace space station, which, if necessary, will allow the telescope to be docked to the orbital station and carry out its maintenance and modernization.

China is very quickly catching up not only with Russia, as the heir of the # USSR in space technologies, but also # with the United States. Very soon, the Tianwen-1 probe descent module with the Jurong rover (in Chinese mythology means the God of fire) on board will land on Mars. «Jurong» is 1.85 meters high and weighs about 240 kilograms. He will have to work on Mars at least 92 sol.

And in the field of electric vehicles, China is also stepping on the heels of all other players, regardless of the authorities. After all, this is the Celestial Empire.
